Learning at Splendour

Our programmes

Authentic Montessori classrooms for children aged 18 months to 6 years, guided by Montessori-trained educators.

Our approach

Montessori, the way it was meant to be

We follow the Montessori method — a child-centred approach that sees every child as a natural, self-directed learner. Carefully prepared classrooms, mixed-age groups and authentic materials let children learn at their own pace, while our guides observe and gently lead each child to their next step.

  • Long, uninterrupted work periodsTime to concentrate deeply on chosen work.
  • Mixed-age classroomsOlder children mentor, younger ones are inspired.
  • Hands-on materialsAbstract ideas made concrete and memorable.

Toddler Community

A warm, safe first step away from home where little ones grow in independence, language and confidence.

Our youngest learners join a calm, home-like environment designed around their size and their need to move, touch and explore. Guides focus on independence, language and social skills through practical life activities, sensorial exploration and guided play.

Songs, stories and conversation happen in both English and Kinyarwanda.

  • Language foundations songs, stories and vocabulary in English and Kinyarwanda
  • Practical life dressing, pouring, tidying: real independence from day one
  • Sensorial play textures, colours, shapes and sounds
  • Social development sharing, taking turns and greeting others
  • Movement & outdoor play gross-motor development every day
  • Music & rhythm rhymes, instruments and movement

Children's House (Pre-Primary)

Mixed-age Montessori classrooms (Kinder 1, 2 and 3) building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and culture.

In the Children's House, children aged 3 to 6 learn side by side. Long, uninterrupted work cycles with authentic Montessori materials let each child go deep at their own pace, while older children naturally mentor younger ones.

Children move from concrete materials to abstract understanding — the sandpaper letters and moveable alphabet lead to reading and writing; number rods and golden beads lead to confident arithmetic.

  • Language phonics, sandpaper letters, moveable alphabet, early reading and writing
  • Mathematics number rods, golden beads and cards for counting and operations
  • Cultural studies geography, animals, nature and world cultures
  • Science discovery simple experiments and nature study
  • Creative arts drawing, painting, clay and collage
